The iconic Globe D2000, designed by Frank Ligtelijn for Raak Amsterdam in the 1960s. One of the best-known Dutch lamp designs from this period, recognizable by its large smoked-glass globe in a minimalist chrome frame.
The globe is made of brown smoke crystal glass by the German manufacturer Peill & Putzler. The glass globe sits freely in the bracket and can therefore be positioned in almost any desired orientation. This allows the light to be directed upwards, downwards or sideways. The frame is also height-adjustable, from approximately 108 to 145 cm.
This example has been fully restored with great attention to detail. The chrome and aluminium tube have been polished, the glass globe has been carefully cleaned and polished, and the wiring has been completely replaced. The wiring runs neatly through the frame, and the lamp has a foot switch.
The glass is in exceptionally beautiful and flawless condition, with no chips. The chrome and aluminium tube have also been very well preserved. The lamp is marked underneath the base.
A particularly beautiful and fully restored example of a true Dutch design classic.
