Hoogervorst for ANVIA around 1955.

This is the last version to feature the movable base. This mechanism is precisely what makes the Grasshopper special. The triangular base can be moved up and down along the long stem, allowing you to adjust the position and angle of the entire lamp. The distinctive shade is also adjustable and can be positioned in different directions.

The combination of the slender black frame and white aluminium shade gives the lamp its recognisable graphic look. A striking Dutch design dating back to the 1950s, yet still remarkably contemporary.

This lamp was used as a showroom model and is otherwise in near-new condition. There are a few small signs of use at the bottom of the stem, where the adjustable base mechanism moves along it.

In the photos, the lamp is shown with a black mirror-top bulb. This bulb is not included and is not required to use the lamp. The Grasshopper has an E27 socket, also known as a large socket, and can be used with another suitable bulb.

Specifications

Designer: J.J.M.
